UVEITIS TREATMENT

Uveitis is one of the most common eye conditions in otherwise healthy people. However, it does not leave out the risk of developing certain complications which can lead to loss of vision. So, uveitis treatment plays an important role in preventing a uveitis eye scaling up to a much more severe eye condition. At My Vision Eye Clinic, we offer a wide range of treatments for various eye problems including uveitis eye and uveitis treatment strategies that we have is based on the severity. Surgery usually comes into picture only when other treatments and medications fail to treat the uveitis eye.

UVEITIS TREATMENT STRATEGY

The severity and the location of the inflammation determines the kind of medication that your eye specialist will give you. However, there might not be a guarantee of a relapse and the best way to prevent a relapse is to take good care of your eyes. The uveitis treatments include eye drops, injections under the affected uveitis eye, ointments and gels or oral medication.

The surgeries for uveitis include two types.

1. Vitrectomy – This procedure under uveitis treatment involves the surgeon removing a small part of the gel like substance in your eye called vitreous humour.

2. Implant surgery – Implant surgery for uveitis eye involves a tiny capsule being implanted into the affected eye, which releases a steroid to treat the condition. This particular surgery is usually done to treat posterior uveitis, which is a complicated condition to treat. This implant stays for a good 2-3 years.
